Fotheringay and Hepplewaite

Incredible early Seventies dress by Fotheringay and Hepplewaite, about whom I know nothing other than that the things I've seen with their label have been the most perfect boutique garments. This dress is exquisitely of its time, reminiscent of similar pieces by Thea Porter (particularly that lush butterfly print) and Lee Bender for Bus Stop. The dramatic flared medieval trumpet sleeves and the deceptively simple empire line cut are just enhanced by the sheer georgette fabric printed with butterflies. If this was my size, it would be going nowhere because it's just my dream dress...

Measurements:

Bust 33" - Underbust 28" - Hips 40" - Length 57"

Fabric:

Georgette (synthetic)

Condition:

A few areas of scattered very tiny holes (the most noticeable is under the left arm but even that's a hard spot when worn. Some fraying inside one of the sleeve edges, but they're not even rolled and stitched to begin with so it's only visible internally. This fabric is pretty delicate so I consider these issues to be very minor and very commensurate with age/fabric. Sold as vintage.
