early Forties

One of my favourite vintage looks is the teadress. Much copied in the Seventies by the likes of Lee Bender and Barbara Hulanicki, but originating in the Thirties and Forties as a style to be worn somewhere between daywear and eveningwear - usually smothered in adorable novelty prints on cool rayon crepes.

This teadress is an original from the Forties and has one of the best novelty prints I've seen in a long while, with musical instruments interspersed with pink Busy Lizzies. The shape is simple but super flattering and elegant. It is fastened with two zips, one at the side and one at the back of the neck so as to enable you to get it over a mighty fancy hairdo ;)

Bust: 34" approx (dolman styling) / Waist: 26" / Hips: 40" / Length: 42"

Label: unsigned / Colour: black with print / Fabric: rayon crepe

Condition: Excellent

Flaws: Missing a belt. Sold as vintage.
